E-meals is still going strong! I am working out the kinks in finding my routine with it still. I love having a weekly grocery list, but I don't cook 7 nights a week. So, right now I am wasting some money on vegetables that may go bad before I cook them. Also, some of the meals are big enough to make a whole second dinner.
My plan: sit down and read each recipe before going to the store. Sounds simple enough that I probably should have been doing that from the start. I plan to pick out the 5 meals and sides that sound the best and then tweak the grocery list. This will save money and keep us from wasting so much.
Despite my problem with waste, I am still loving the food! Everything taste so fresh and healthy. I am short some of the everyday staples, so some meals take a little extra love to make the flavor. But, it has been so much fun trying all of these new recipes!
So far, my favorite recipes have been honey-Dijon chicken, sweet and smokey pork tenderloin, and the turkey ragu from last week. Yummy! And I am pretty excited about tonight's dinner, almond crusted tilapia with brussel sprouts! Yummy!
Check out this chicken and artichokes with a cold white bean and tomato salad! I was skeptical of the cold beans, but they ended up being my favorite part of the meal!

34 Weeks! (6 to go!)
I can't believe Grayson is already 34 weeks old!! It is really starting to get real! I am now going to the doctor every 1 week (you would think that would make the pregnancy fly by, but it seems to be slowing down). I'm so ready to meet this little boy!
I think I have gained 27 lbs so far (I need to write down my weights because I just forget them). No stretch marks and belly button is still flat (I don't know if inny is the right word to describe it, but it isn't an outy yet). I'm still having Braxton Hicks contractions (some days more than others) and now my feet are starting to swell by the end of the day. My blood pressure continues to be fabulous though (107/62 last time).
We talked about our "birth plan" with our doctor at the last visit. Basically, we know that I want the good drugs, want just Michael and I in the room for the actual delivery, and hope to go into labor naturally. Our doctor is open to talks of inducing once I hit the 39 weeks mark. Michael kind of wants us to schedule it, so he can make sure he isn't almost 2 hours away when I go into labor. But, I really want to go into labor naturally! I just want that experience of counting the minutes between contractions and the chaos of packing our bags (b/c I'm sure we will be doing that at the last minute), shaving my legs, and begging Michael to paint my toenails. There is also much great risk of c-section if you induce labor.
I am definitely starting the nesting phase and absolutely loving it!! I have been so productive these days!! We have finished decorating the nursery (pictures to come), washed all baby clothes/blankets, filed taxes, kept the dirty clothes hamper fairly empty, eaten home cooked meals almost every night, and kept the house fairly clean. I have these bursts of energy where I just want to get up and do stuff (sometimes they are quickly followed by a burst of fatigue).
Today we had our maternity pictures taken by Jennifer Owens. I cannot wait to see them!! She showed us some on her camera as she took them and they looked fabulous! She is going to do our newborn/6month/1year pictures as well! She has been a joy to work with so far. Check out her website and let her know I sent you there if you use her for anything!
Ok, enough of the talking, here are pictures:

34 Weeks! I don't know how much more that stomach can stretch!
Bedding finally came in! Looks so good with the name!
I am in LOVE with the alphabet wall!! We are going to fill the little glass jar with pacifiers!
GF Cooking: E-Meals!!
I know my poor blog has been neglected lately (and taken over by baby Grayson). Can I blame it on pregnancy-brain? But, the good news is that I PLAN to post a lot more about food in the near future (don't worry, I'm sure Grayson will make his way into the blog plenty).
Why?
#1 (And most important): I have PASSED my board exams and am now waiting on a little letter in the mail that officially certifies me as a Nurse Practitioner!! (So, no more coming home and going straight to studying).
#2: I now work 8-5 and have much more time to devote to cooking when I get home (until baby comes, that is).
#3: Michael and I have decided to try out e-meals!
What are e-meals?
It is a neat little website that lets you sign up for the type of food you eat (organic, gluten-free, low-carb, vegetarian, paleo, etc.), the grocery store you shop at (Walmart, Kroger, Publix, etc.), and the size of meals you want to cook (2 people or family). Then, they e-mail you 7 dinner recipes (and lunch and breakfast if you desire) and a shopping list (including price if you picked your grocery store).
It is just so freaking convenient and easy, very healthy, and money conscious. I mean, Dave Ramsey recommends it, so it must be good.

Michael and I signed up for the gluten-free, Walmart, family plan. Walmart only offered a family plan with the gluten-free option, and I really wanted to have a grocery list for a specific store. It is really hard to find gluten-free items around this area, so I knew the more specific list would be helpful. Besides, I can take left-overs for my lunch!
We have already made the first weeks worth of meals and they were amazing! The recipes are usually things we would never think of on our own.
Everything we have tried so far has been wonderful! I lost a lot of pictures of the meals when we changed phones recently, but I will do better this week! My favorite meal this week was Turkey Ragu (it was a ground turkey mixture served over fresh butternut squash, Yummy!!)! I also finally made a gluten-free baked oatmeal recipe that I can't wait to share! I LOVE oatmeal!
So, keep your eye out for lots of gluten-free cooking in the future!

32 Weeks!! Help Please!
Ok ladies (and my fashionably forward men), I need your help!! I have scheduled my maternity photos and need help picking out one of my outfits/styles! I know I want a bare belly picture that is still slightly modest (as pretty as it is, I'm not quite ready for the nude flowing fabric). I have two outfits in mind, so I took the opportunity to use them for my 32 weeks picture. Scroll down for pictures, and leave me some suggestions!!
32 Weeks!!!!
Can you believe I only have 8 more weeks to go?! I can't!! I have been so busy with the new job and preparing for boards that the days have been flying by! Slow down!!!
I went to the doctor at 31 weeks for a check-up. I was actually pretty sick with a bad cold and going through some horrible pregnancy-induced constipation (no since in hiding the truth, constipation and pregnancy come hand-in-hand!). The day of my appointment I started having braxton-hicks contractions. I knew they weren't the real thing because they were very irregular. However, my doctor was a little worried because of how frequently they were happening (I think it was a mixture of stress and being sick). So, he checked me to make sure I wasn't going into early labor. Thankfully, everything was where it was suppose to be!
My doctor made me come back in 1 week just to check me out again. I was feeling much better by this visit, and my "contractions" have really slowed down and eased up. Thankfully, I didn't have to be checked and I can come back in the normal 2 weeks. At 32 weeks I weigh 174 lbs (23 pounds gained). I still have an inny and no stretch marks! Grayson has really learned where my ribs are!!
Picture Time!
Battle of the Green sweater VS. Blue button-up.
Also, do you like the messy up-do (I'll work a little harder to make it pretty on the actual photograph day) or hair down? And, what do you think about the pre-pregnancy jeans left open? Should I just scratch both of these outfits and start over?! Suggestions please!! I always look back at my professional pictures and wished I had worn something different.

Big Announcement! and My Awesome Husband!
So, I finally feel like it is ok to make my big announcement!
I'm pregnant!!! Ok, ok, everybody knows that already.
So, as you all know, I have been going to school to get my master's and become a family nurse practitioner. I graduated earlier in December and will take my boards January 18th. I fully expected to not find a job going to interviews as a big pregnant woman, so I really wasn't looking for any seriously. However, my charge nurse (thanks Brad) recommended me to a physician who then asked me to apply for a job. I figured it was a long shot but went ahead and sent in my resume. After 3 interviews I was offered a job (and I even told them that I was pregnant)!!! I wanted to make sure everything was good with the contract and such before announcing the job, so that is why I have waited so long to announce (I would like to say that I am a hardball negotiator, but really they have given me every small request). So, y'all are reading the blog of thenext first Neuro-FNP in my area! I can't wait to start my new job! Today I went to get what I call my "big people" lab coats. I still can't believe I am actually going to be a nurse practitioner.
In other news, I recently realized that I pretty much have the best husband in the whole world (despite him blasting the heat on my sweating pregnant self). I realized this today while riding in the car listening to the song "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys. For a moment, the song had me fooled into thinking it was all about me. I mean, I worked full-time (nights, ICU, 7-on-7-off) for my first 3 semesters of FNP school, am currently making a baby inside of me (which is pretty hard work if you ask me), got a job as an FNP before even passing my boards, all while having a major lifestyle change due to being diagnosed with Celiac. I'm the bomb! Right? Then all of a sudden it hit me (boom). I could not have done ANY of this without my husband!
First, I had this crazy idea to go back to FNP school. I had never expressed any interest in being a nurse practitioner. In fact, when I first went to nursing school, I always said that I would NEVER GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!! Then, shift-work started. Working 12 hours (especially nights) is really hard on a person, their body, their social life, and a marriage. When you come home from 12 hours of work, you are completely exhausted and it takes every effort to clean off the ICU stink before getting in the bed (much less do dishes, laundry, or cook). My poor husband had 7 days of doing everything himself (while he was busy in med-school). We also hardly got to see each other during those 7 days (he probably misses those days). I also was beginning to realize that nurses are almost at the bottom of the totem pole. When patients get better, most of them don't think to thank the nurse that gave all their meds, notified the doctor of any change in status, or cleaned their butt (a lot). Praise from the doctor for catching any change in status is even more rare. Although the few thanks and praises mean SO MUCH when given, the more common patient complaints and doctor yelling and patient deaths were starting to wear on me (I tend to get a little too attached to my patients, even though I try to hide it even from myself). So, over-night I decided to go back to school. I was nervous to approach the subject with Michael. He was so busy with med school, and I didn't want to stress him out by adding something else to our plate. However, as soon I as I told him he lit up ("You should do it!!")! So, Michael helped me sign up for the GRE, update my resume, and send in an application that day. Since then, he has been so supportive of me and my school (he has even helped me write some papers and study for tests)!
Second, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Michael was my rock. I could have been watching him eat his burgers on his nice soft buns while I was stuck with some nasty gluten-free bread that I pretended were buns. But, no, Michael has insisted to have a gluten-free house from the moment of my diagnosis. He even helped me to throw out or give away all of our gluten-laden food. He never ever complains about food he is missing out on! Instead, he complains about the waiters at restaurants not understanding my disease when they bring us bread to the table and refuses to eat it in front of me. He even listens to me whine about wanting a Krystal burger and doesn't chastise me for not thinking about all of the people that have it so much worse than me. I know putting up with me during this change has not been easy, but he has been amazing!
Third, he has put up with this hormone crazed pregnant lady!! I don't know how he does it! I know my temper has been short and I have been moody on most days. I always try to put on this happy, loves-to-be-pregnant, never-feels-sick pregnant exterior to my friends and family. For the most part, that is true. This pregnancy has been SO easy compared to so many I have heard about. But, anytime I don't feel good or do feel moody, my husband catches the brunt of it. He listens to every ache and complaint. He goes to Wal-mart in the middle of the night to get my Milk of Magnesia. He wakes up at the crack of dawn to my crying and insists on taking me to the doctor. He doesn't complain when he finds out he woke up at the crack of the dawn and drove me to the doctor only to find out I had round ligament pain. He takes me to Waffle House after waking up at the crack of dawn to make ME feel better. If he can put up with me during all of this (while doing awesome in med-school), there is no doubt in my mind that he will be the BEST Father ever! I can't wait to see him with little Grayson!

29ish weeks!!
29 WEEKS!!! (and 3 days)
So, I have been a little behind in the bloggersphere, but I have had a lot going on lately. I can't wait to announce some good changes coming my way (no, I'm not magically pregnant again, pretty sure that's not possible).
I had a doctor visit at 29 weeks. Baby Grayson is growing perfectly (according to my doctor who would never exaggerate). I gained 2 pounds this time (I was sick for a bit before, so only that can explain the lack of weight gain during the holidays), which now totals to 16 pounds gained. Grayson should weight around 3 pounds now (slow down kid!). I can not believe I am already in the third trimester!! He will be a teenager wanting to go on dates before I know it!! I also got my glucose test results back and, thankfully, do Not have gestational diabetes (Michael was convinced my sugar/chocolate binging would have caused different results).
Third Trimester Changes!
- Baby hiccups!! I LOVE it when Grayson starts bouncing with the hiccups!
- Difficulty reaching toes (I believe I have already
talkedcomplained about this) - Our house has been oddly clean and laundry done lately, could this possibly be the nesting that I have so desperately been wanting?!!??
- Sleep deprivation (I am not a fan of only having one position to sleep in, I tend to be a roller (kicker, hitter, etc.)
- Return of reflux (with a vengeance)
- Hormone induced mood fluctuations (this may not be new to the third trimester, you'll have to ask my husband)
- Baby movement have increased like crazy! (Is he doing cartwheels in there?)
- Hungry ALL THE TIME!! I just want to snack constantly (especially on anything chocolate)!
Now, what you have all been waiting for, pictures:
I graduated from FNP school earlier in December on the same day that Grayson graduated to the 3rd Trimester! My sister, mom, and dad came down for my graduation.
I also had a little Christmas photo-shoot with my sweet hubs earlier today:
I was looking back at my pictures and realized that I may be giving a false impression of myself. While I love to play dress up once a week for my little pictures, I immediately change clothes as soon as the camera is turned off. So, to show my faithful readers the real side of me, I had my sweet hubs snap one more picture:
I'm not proud, but you deserve the truth ;)

NURSERY!!!!
Finally, the post you all have been waiting for!!! The nursery is almost complete!!
Michael gave me permission to take pictures and blog all about it (you know I have been on pins and needles). I had so much fun with all of my DIY projects!!
Project #1:
My first project was to get all of our furniture the same color. So, I spray painted a cheap little bookshelf that we are going to use as an end table beside the glider.
My next project was to turn an antique frame into something new for the room.
Project #3: My FAVORITE!!!
I have been dreaming about this project ever since seeing a picture online (I really wish I knew where the picture came from, I found it a long time ago searching google images and saved it to my computer). I knew I wanted to find frames in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors and put Grayson's name in a pretty orange. I was able to find my frames from Hobby Lobby for 50% off and the wooden letters for $2.99 each. The project ended up costing about $100 for everything (frames, letters, mounting tape, etc.). This wasn't a bad price considering some that I saw online for sale that weren't nearly as cute!!
I didn't take any pictures of the process, because it was pretty self explanatory. All I did was use scrapbook paper stock and cut it to be the size of the frame and insert under the glass. Michael and I picked out our 10 favorite colors/patterns at the store and then lined them all up at home to pick out the best. I'm glad we got extra because some looked great in the store and then weird once we got home. Then, I used double sided mounting tape to attach my painted letters to the glass. The hardest part was mounting them on the wall where the letter would all be level.
Almost Finished Nursery:
I tried to provide links to everything that I could find online. We still have one wall to decorate (the end-table wall) and little knick-knacks to decorate our changing table and dresser with. I love how everything turned out!!
What do you think?!
Also, take the time to check out Funky Junk Interiors blog! They have some really cute DIY projects that I hope to try one day!

I painted it outside so I didn't breath in all the fumes.

First, I took off the backing and glass and spray painted the frame white.
I got this "G" from Hobby Lobby that was the perfect size to mount in the middle of the frame.

Almost Finished Nursery:
Our Dresser came from Miskelly's and the curtains are from Target.
Our fabulous glider chair came from Miskelly's and the rug from Miskelly's Room Store.
Our toy chest was a bargain from Big Lots.
Our Jenny Lind crib and changing table were from Babies R Us.
The baskets are from Target.
We are still waiting on the rest of our bedding to come in from Etsy.
This blanket came from Modern Made Baby.
